Flu, Cough and An Accident

Yesterday, Heidi woke up in the morning with a terrible runny nose and and a slight cough. She might have caught a chill from dipping in the cool water in the swimming pool the day before. Called up her playgroup and the asst teacher advised to let her stay at home and rest.

There were no flu medicine at home and Heidi was feeling feverish after her lunch. Fed her paracetamol before her nap. In the evening when Daddy came back from work with dinner for us and suggested that we go out to get some flu medicine for Heidi later. After finishing our dinner and watching an interesting chef show on Channel 8, it was already almost 9.30pm. We quickly rushed down to Lot 1 and managed to buy a bottle flu and cough medicine from the pharmacist just before they close.

Went to Sheng Shiong after that for some grocery shopping and bought some durians too. We bought those still in their thorn-covered husks cos there were none of those prepacked ones. When we reached home, as we were busy putting away the groceries, Heidi came into the kitchen and tripped on the durians that Daddy had carelessly left on the floor. My heart nearly stopped when I saw that and heard her loud cries. Daddy picked her up gently and we saw a few long and deep bleeding scratches on her left arm. We quickly checked her eyes and face and were very relieved there were none there although there were some slight scratches on her leg knee too.

Daddy then sterilised her wounds with diluted dettol before I apply some ointment which was supposed to be good for healing wounds. Daddy and I did not point our fingers on each other in this incident cos we know we were BOTH at fault and we were to blame for our stupid carelessness. Although Daddy kept saying that it was just scratches and nothing serious, it hurt us so much to see Heidi bawling her eyes out.

Later after her milk and medication and while patting her to sleep, she was back to her old self again. She seemed to forget what happened earlier on and was happily singing "Mary Had A Little Lamb".
