Teacher Irene, the co-owner of this art studio and who was also the supervisor of The Enrichment Classroom (where Heidi had attended nursery classes for 2 years) highly recommended the pottery session party to us when Daddy and I went down to the studio to take take a look see. I was deciding between canvas art and pottery art but chose the latter when Teacher Irene assured us that our little guests will have lots of clay fun. She also proposed that the kids make a personalized name plate for themselves during the pottery session and that she would also arrange for a glazing/painting session for our guests for their clay art pieces 1-2 weeks later. That sounded very fun to me already. :)
After several weeks of coordination with the Teacher Irene, we were all ready for our gal's celebration today.
Before the party starts and arrival of our guests, Heidi doodled and drew a fish on the big whiteboard.
A birthday gift for Heidi from Teacher Irene!
Our guests arrived shortly.
Melanie was very sweet to string up a colourful bead necklace and bracelet for our birthday girl and even put it on for her.
Our little guests and parents hard at work.
Almost done....and done!
After our clay pieces were moulded, they would need to get fired in a kiln and this process would take up to 24 hours. We will be back again 2 weeks later to paint our clay pieces. :)
The kids doodling on big pieces of paper while having some refreshments.
Next came the cake cutting!
Heidi had been going on and on over her "elmo cake" for the past few weeks when she knew she would be having an Elmo theme for her birthday party and we could see how elated she was when she finally saw her birthday cake. I had picked up the cake the night before and was careful to keep it out of her sight as I had wanted this to be a surprise for her.
(some pics were kindly taken by Venice's daddy).
Canvas art party next year, Daddy? :D
